Rosé, s'il vous plaît

By: Cecily G

Need an excuse to celebrate summer, friends, and everyone’s favorite pink summer sipper? An excuse to pop open a bottle of pink wine is never needed, but we do happen to have the perfect one. Rosé Day 2019 is almost upon us, my friends, and we are ready to do it up right at Suite D on June 8th! We are prepared to paint the town pink complete with still and sparkling rosés, snacks, sunglasses, and more.

Before we start to rosé all day, you may be wondering how this day came about. Let’s go back to the very beginning. I’m talking 600 BC, when wines and vines first arrived in France, brought in by Greek traders to the region now known as Provence. This was the birth of what would become one of the most famous regions for rosé wine production. By the 14th century, rosé from Provence had gained prestige as a wine fit for aristocrats and kings. Rosé finally arrived in the US in the mid 1940’s, with the first rosé actually coming from Portugal. In 1975, Sutter Home’s White Zinfandel, the first American-made rosé, was released to wine lovers throughout the country. Fast forward to 2015, and Bodvár Hafström, of Bovar House of Rosés, creator of the global “rosé movement,” founded the first official National Rosé Day, deemed to be the second Saturday of June each year.

This year at Suite D, we are thrilled to be welcoming in our local winery friends, as well as pouring our own Old Vine rosé in celebration of National Rosé Day. We will be joined by Passaggio Wines, Jeff Cohn Cellars, Cline Cellars, Preston Farm & Winery, Three Sticks Wines, Imagery Estate Wines, Onesta Wines, Francis Ford Coppola Winery, & Gamba Vineyards and Winery. To pair with the many wonderful rosés being poured, Fig Caters will be serving up wood fired pizzas, small nibbles, and delicious mini desserts! Mix & mingle with friends in our indoor-outdoor space from 1-4 PM, tickets are $30 per person; Suite D and Wine Club members enjoy 15% off their ticket price. We hope you will say “Yes Way Rosé” with us on June 8th!
