Being in Sonoma, we have the good fortune of being surrounded by an abundance of wonderful neighboring businesses. Right down 1st Street W from the girl & the fig on the Sonoma Square is our Featured Neighbor Business, Corner 103!
Corner 103 is an ideal place for anyone to start their wine adventure in Sonoma County, especially if they are truly interested in learning about wine. Lloyd Davis, founder of Corner 103, began his winery to in an effort to share his passion with people and deconstruct the intimidation surrounding wine.
Lloyd Davis grew up in a family that appreciated and enjoyed wine, establishing his love for the product at a young age. After a 30 year long career in banking and finance in New York City, Davis succumbed to his passion for wine, packed up, and moved to Sonoma. Before venturing on his own, Davis was the former president and co-owner of Viansa Winery until 2013, and was credited for bringing great success and profitability to the brand. During his time before opening Corner 103, Davis made meaningful connections in the business, and established himself within the wine community of Sonoma.
Corner 103 opened in April of 2015. The name comes from the location and address of the tasting room, which is located in the historic Feed Store building on the Sonoma Plaza.
Whether a wine expert or a newbie to the fermented juice, Davis strives to create a “must visit” experience for all who come to Sonoma. His tastings are unique in that it is a relaxed learning environment, with no more than 10 guests tasting at a time. Davis has crafted wines from each AVA in Sonoma County, choosing varietals in an effort to showcase the best representation of each AVA and chosen varietal. Everything from soil to stemware is discussed; a well rounded experience indeed! And of course, seasonal food pairings are a must.
