Talisman Wine Vertical Dinner
We are so excited to announce that the ever popular Talisman Wine Gunsalus Vineyard Vertical Dinner will once again be happening this year on November 8th at Suite D! An evening filled with Pinot Noir, this dinner and guided tasting will be hosted by winemaker Scott Rich and vineyard owners Pam and Glen Gunsalus. Early planners rejoice: tickets are now on sale for this event, and will sell out quickly!
Talisman Wine was founded by Scott Rich, whose fascination with wine began at 6 years old. Graduating with a masters in Enology from UC Davis, Rich began his career as a research enologist for RH Philips and Robert Mondavi. He began winemaking at Mont St. John, Carneros Creek, and Etude. Rich now spends his time as the winemaker and owner of Talisman, producing acclaimed Pinot Noirs alongside his wife, Marta.
Talisman vineyard partners are selected carefully, based on character within an appellation, philosophical alignment, and dedication to the highest quality in wine craftsmanship. Pam and Glen Gunsalus are certainly no exception. The Gunsalus’ can most often be found happily in the vineyard, working and tending to the land themselves, with the utmost care for vineyard health and sustainability.
The Gunsalus Vineyard was planted in 2001 and is home to 10 acres of Pinot Noir. The vineyard lies in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley Appellation, on Goldridge sandy loam and well-drained Sebastopol loam soils. The vineyard is comprised of 16,000 vines, to which Pam notes: “Anything we do in the vineyard takes at least one minute per vine (pruning, training, leafing, suckering, etc). That’s 16,000 minutes, which is 266 hours!”
