cruising sonoma: 8 Best Swim Spots To Take A Dip This Summer

When the days get hotter and longer, there's nothing better than going for a swim. Lucky for us, we live in an area abundant with the best swimming spots. Grab your swimsuit - we've got a list of our 8 favorite swimming spots for the next time you're in the mood for taking a dip.

This beach on the Russian River is a popular spot for summer swimming. Be sure to bring some floaties for an extra-relaxing float in the river. You can also stay overnight at Johnson's Beach! They offer several rental options including Johnson's Beach Lodge, Cabins, and campgrounds.

*Hours: May 19-Jun 16 (weekends) | Jun 16 - Sep 7 (daily) | Sep 15 - Sep 23 (weekends)

Located in Healdsburg, the marina at Lake Sonoma Resort is a great swimming beach spot perfect for taking a dip. The spot also offers a barbecue area and snack shop.

*Hours: the Marina is open year-round, Sunday-Thursday, 8am-6pm and Friday-Saturday, 8am-7pm

This swimming spot in Santa Rosa also offers a water park! In addition to 3-acres of lagoon and sandy beach space, the water park at Spring Lake features in-water floating slides, climbing walls, bridges, balance beams, jumps, and trampolines.

*Hours: 11am - 6pm, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day

The geothermal mineral springs that run through Morton's are historically known to have been considered sacred waters. Today, the water in the two large pools at this resort come from these mineral streams. Recently under new ownership since 2016, the property also features a cafe, wading pool, baseball field, beach volleyball courts, walking trails, and picnic areas.

*Hours: Thursday through Sunday, 10am - 5pm. Season ends September 30th.

The Sandman Hotel is offering lots of fun this summer with their Sandman Summer Nights events. On select dates at Sandman's Pool House Bar, guests can enjoy live music, specialty cocktails, and eats from local food trucks (the fig rig was there for the May 11th event and it was so much fun!).

*Upcoming Dates: June 29th & August 17th

This Russian River beach in Forestville got its name for being the ultimate family-friendly beach spot along the Russian River. In addition to being a great swim spot for kids, this spot is also dog-friendly for pups on leashes.

*Hours: 7am - 30 minutes before sunset

Also a hidden gem along the Russian River, this swim spot also offers a redwood grove plus lakes for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing.

*Hours: 7am to sunset

This is the ultimate Wine Country swimming experience! In the middle of Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville sits 3,600 square feet of pure swimming bliss, including giant two pools and plenty of lounge chairs.

*Hours: open daily through September 27th, 11am - 6pm
