Wine Wednesday: Meyer Family Cellars, 2013 Syrah, Mendocino
"You can't buy happiness. But, you can buy wine, and that's kind of the same thing."

This Week: Meyer Family Cellars, 2013 Syrah
About Meyer Family Cellars:
Located in Yorkville Highlands of Mendocino County, Meyer Family Cellars is a small family-owned winery. The winery was created by former owners and founders of Silver Oak Cellars, Justin and Bonny Meyer. Today, the winery is owned by winemakers Matt and Karen Meyer. They work to incorporate old world acidity with new world forward fruit into their wines. They do this by utilizing old family history combined with their new, creative ideas and winemaking processes.
Tasting Notes:
This 2013 Syrah has warm bursts of huckleberry, blueberry, and plum backed by notes of violet, pepper, and wet earth.
Pairings:
At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing Meyer Family Cellars, 2013 Syrah with our Sonoma Mountain Beef Burger (grilled onions, house-made pickles, frites).
At home try it with barbecue pork or smoked seitan steaks for a vegetarian option.
Cheers!
