Wine Wednesday: Bonny Doon Vineyard, 2015 Picpoul, Arroyo Seco

"Age is just a number. It's totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine."

-Joan Collins

This Week: Bonny Doon Vineyard, 2015 Picpoul

About Bonny Doon Vineyard:

Bonny Doon Vineyard began with an attempt by Randall Graham to replicate Burgundy in California. Instead, he realized he'd be more successful working with Rhône varieties in the warm Central Coast of California. Since then, Bonny Doon Vineyard has been an innovator in the winemaking industry. They were the first to widely popularize Rhône grapes in California, the first to embrace the use of screw-caps on premium wines, and the first to embrace transparency in the ingredients used in their wines with their labeling initiative; just to name a few.

Tasting Notes:

This is Bonny Doon's fourth vintage Picpoul from beeswax. Picpoul is known for its tingling acidity. This vintage has a sensation of saltiness, with aromas of peaches, wildflowers, and beeswax.

Pairings:

At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing Bonny Doon Vineyard, 2015 Picpoul with our Pastis-Scented Steamed Mussels & Frites (garlic, leeks, herbs, grilled bread) or our Scallops (celery root puree, celery, baby kale salad, bacon vinaigrette).

At home try it with oysters or Dungeness crab.

Cheers!
