Wine Wednesday: McCrea Cellars, 2006 Roussanne, Rainer Washington

"To take wine into our mouths is to savor a droplet of the river of human history."

-Clifton Fadiman

This Week: McCrea Cellars, 2006 Roussanne, Rainer Washington

About McCrea Cellars:

Founded by Doug McCrea, McCrea Cellars is the first winery in Washington State to be entirely dedicated to Syrah and Rhône varietals. For over two decades, Doug sought vineyard sights that would be suitable to establish Syrah and Rhône varietal vines. Today, ten different varietal vines are thriving, which is a huge achievement for the state of Washington.

Tasting Notes:

This 2006 Roussanne has aromas of orange and peach blossom, with intense fruit flavors.

Pairings:

At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing McCrea Cellars, 2006 Roussanne with our Pastis-Scented Steamed Mussels & Frites (garlic, leeks, herbs, grilled bread) and Chicken & Figs (roasted garlic, cippolini onions, fingerling potatoes, honey wine glaze).

At home enjoy with soft or hard cheeses, a simple green salad, grilled chicken, or pasta and shrimp with cream sauce.

Cheers!
