Wine Wednesday: Ramey Wine Cellars, 2013 Syrah, Sonoma County
"Wine offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing."
-Ernest Hemingway
This Week: Ramey Wine Cellars, 2013 Syrah, Sonoma County
About Ramey Wine Cellars:
Ramey Wine Cellars creates wine known to be rich and balanced, each with a strong resemblance to the California vineyards where the grapes are grown. With 16 years of wine industry and wine-making experience, David Ramey set out with his wife Carla Ramey to found Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996. Today, in addition to managing Ramey Wine Cellars, David also does consulting work for wineries across the North Coast. One of David's techniques for creating the best, richest wines is to take a chance and harvest the grapes at the last possible moment.
Tasting Notes:
This seventh vintage, 2013 Syrah has tastes and aromas of dark blue and purplish hued fruits, smoke, black pepper, violets, and lavender.
Pairings:
At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing Ramey Wine Cellars, 2013 Syrah with our Smoked Eggplant (broccoli rabe, oven-dried tomatoes, crispy polenta, salsa verde) or our Sonoma Mountain Beef Burger (grilled onions, house-made pickles, frites).
At home enjoy with grilled lamb, simple green salad, and Gouda.
Cheers!
