Wine Wednesday: Passaggio Wines, 2014 Grenache, Clarksburg

"Age appears best in four things: old wood to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust and old authors to read."

-Francis Bacon

This Week: Passaggio Wines, 2014 Grenache, Clarksburg

About Passaggio Wines:

In 2004, Cynthia Cosco left a 15-year career in law enforcement in North Virginia, and moved across the country to California to pursue her passion for wine-making. After the big move, she took her first steps into the wine world working for Bevmo and Chateau St. Jean conducting wine tastings, while also studying enology at Napa Valley College. Later on in 2007, Cynthia began working as a Lab Manager for Crushpad in Napa, while simultaneously opening her own winery, Passaggio Wines. Today, Cynthia also owns and operates her own wine production facility, as well as a wine tasting room for Passaggio Wines in downtown Sonoma.

Tasting Notes:

This 2014 Grenache is created with 100% Grenache grapes from the Heringer Estate Vineyard in Clarksburg, California. It has tastes of bright raspberry, strawberry, cherry, and caramel, as well as aromas of Christmas spice, tobacco, and a hint of leather.

Pairings:

At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing Passaggio Wines, 2014 Grenache with our grilled pork belly sandwich (duck liver mousse, pickled vegetables, mint, greens, frites), heirloom radishes (mixed seasonal radishes, anchovy butter & grey sea salt), and soft cheeses.

At home enjoy with grilled pork tenderloin, roasted potatoes, and blue cheese.

Cheers!
