Wine Wednesday: Westwood, 2014 Elevation, Red Blend, Annadel Gap
As you may know, since the very beginning the girl & the fig has offered an exclusively “Rhône-alone” wine list. We’ve always loved that featuring unique wines gives us an opportunity to begin a conversation with our guests, perhaps introduce them to something new, as well as to present talented and innovative producers we believe in.
This Week: Westwood, 2014 "Elevation," Red Blend, Annadel Gap, Sonoma County
Westwood Estate is singularly focused on making world-class Burgundian & Rhone varietals from their Annadel Gap Vineyard. They incorporate precision winegrowing and common biodynamic practices to craft the highest quality and authenticity of their estate grown wines. Creating small-production wines that are truly handcrafted, with less than 3,500 cases produced.
Tasting Notes:
The combination of unique soils and climate from our Annadel Gap Vineyard site allow each variety to express its own unique characteristics forming an expression of complexity, finesse and approach-ability.
Pairings:
At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing the 2014 "Elevation," Red Blend with our steak frites (6-ounce flat iron steak, frites, roasted garlic & herb butter) or
duck confit (baby turnips, carrots, pearl onions, beluga lentils, red wine syrup).
At home, fire up the barbecue and enjoy with baby back ribs or your favorite steak!
Cheers!
