Wine Wednesday: Tres Bonnes Annees 2014 Syrah, Bennett Valley

As you may know, since the very beginning the girl & the fig has offered an exclusively “Rhône-alone” wine list.

We’ve always loved that featuring unique Rhône wines gives us an opportunity to begin a conversation with our guests, perhaps introduce them to something new, as well as to present talented and innovative producers we believe in.

This week, in honor of “Wine Wednesday,” we're very excited to introduce our own 2014 Tres Bonnes Annees Sonoma County Syrah! –

Tres Bonness Annees

We're celebrating this Wine Wednesday with the introduction of our Tres Bonnes Annees (Very Good Years) 2014 Syrah blend. Grapes grown in Bennett Valley, blend custom-created by our staff, and hand-crafted by Kieran Robinson Wines.

Tasting notes:

On the nose this Syrah has an intoxicating aroma of blackberry, bay leaf and white pepper. The palate is seamless from start to finish. Complex aromas of rhubarb, plum, baked earth, aged beef and iron are followed by a hint of tar that balances the fruit and keeps this cool-climate wine on the savory side, walking the line between the Northern Rhone and California.

Pairings:

At the girl & the fig we’d recommend pairing Tres Bonness Annees 2014 Syrah with steak frites (6-ounce flat iron steak, frites, roasted garlic & herb butter).

At home enjoy with pork tenderloin or beef stew with roasted vegetables and potatoes.

Cheers!
